About the film Katharsis: After four years as a volunteer in Syrian civil protection, Tarek returns to his German family. While his colleague Arif is welcomed with open arms, Tarek realizes that the life of his wife and son has evolved and his presence has become obsolete in the meantime.

Filmmakers often approach you euphorically and promise a wonderful film that will be shown at major festivals. Rarely is this so well thought out as in this project. It was clear from the start that the goal was to premiere at the Max Ophüls Prize in Saarbrücken. The fact that we started shooting two weeks before the closing date should not change the plan. This little film was an extremely efficient and beautiful collaboration from the first meeting to post-production. World premiere Film Festival Max Ophüls Prize 2018.
